by Will on August 5, 2009

This is Part 1 of a multi-part SEnuke review series where I provides an overview of the features and usage of SEnuke.

The list of parts in this review are:

Niche Research Section for SENuke

Niche Research Section for SENuke

The niche research module in SE Nuke links you to places to go to get ideas about what niche markets are hot. Then, it helps you determine whether you can compete/rank for those keywords organically.

To use it, you first go to the pulldown list and select niche market “indicator” websites, such as Yahoo Buzz or Ebay Research.  There’s over 50 different websites that show all types of products topics and services that are popular on the Internet, so it should be easy to find something you are interested in. It has a number of sites including the most popular affiliate marketing sites, so you can look at not only Amazon, Yahoo, or eBay but also sites that include CPA offers that you can promote as well.

I found the section somewhat difficult to use. I think for my own niche research I’ll just use my web browser and serve to the various sites as I’ve done in the past.

Once you find a topic you’re interested in, you brainstorm or use other SEO tools to come up with a few keywords you’re interested in. I use tools that are available on the Internet to generate a list of keywords from a seed keyword list that I come up with. Usually, this list will be sufficient for me to generate a list of the few hundred unique keywords. I find just using Google to search for keyword will generate a list of keywords across the bottom but are often suitable for further research.

The key to think about when selecting keywords is to think about whether the key words are related to information gathering, solving a problem, fixing a pain point, or buying something. Informational keywords are not very good at converting into sales. While you may want to run a campaign that targets these types of keywords, it’s not usually optimal from a revenue generation perspective.

Once you have a list of keywords the next step is to determine how competitive those phrases are. I have other tools that I use bad allow me to very quickly determine how competitive the search phrase is especially for Edwards or other PPC tools. But, in these tools provide statistics that you must analyze yourself to determine whether the markets are competitive.

SEnuke, on the other hand, provides a simple answer as to whether the keywords are competitive. The answers range from very easy to don’t waste your time and are based upon the collective experience of SEnuke users over a period of time. While you may not want to compete in a don’t waste your time market, even over time it seems many people can effectively rank for highly competitive phrases using as seen in.

Once you have a phrase that you plan on promoting, the next step is to build out accounts that will be used to promote that key word or phrase. We do this in the Web 2.0 creation module and that I will be reviewing next.

If you have any questions at all please post them in the comments were shoot me an e-mail or tweet and I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

Talk soon,

WF
